Calpe is an excellent destination for a self catering holiday. It has many privately owned villas and apartments which are ideal for holidaying couples, both young and old, as well as family sized villas all conveniently located for Calpes restaurants, bars and two fabulous beaches. 

Most holiday apartments and villas will have air conditioning, both hot and cold and satellite TV. They also usually have multiple and en-suite bathrooms. The villas will normally have their own swimming pool although linked villas often have a shared or communal pool. A pool is a necessity when on holiday in the summer months but can be warm enough to use from April until the end of September. In contrast, apartments will only have communal pools, although not all do. This is something you’ll want to check before you book. Although some apartments may be without pools, most apartment blocks are close to the two beaches and both the sea and beaches are outstanding in  Calpe .  

The close proximity to the beaches and town may influence your need to hire a car. Obviously if you are in the town centre a car may not be a necessity and indeed many villas are within walking distance of the town and beaches. Some are not however although I wouldn’t let this put you off renting them. The benefits of car hire are many as this is one of the most beautiful parts of  Spain , and the cost of a small hire car for a week is similar to a return taxi journey from Alicantes El Altet airport to  Calpe .  

Calpe  has of course many hotels to compliment the private villas and apartments although getting a room can be a challenge particularly in the summer months. You can book on a bed and breakfast basis or full board which I think would be a shame as  Calpe  has many excellent restaurants and eateries. I can wholeheartedly recommend and both the Sol Y Mar and Sol Ifach Hotels. The SolyMar is located in the town centre while the Sol Ifach is on the other side of the Penon De Ifach.  

For those who prefer to holiday closer to nature,  Calpe  can cater for you too. Both camping and caravanning are catered for. Close to the sea I can recommend the La Merced Campsite. It has an on-site café/bar as well as full electric and water as well as hot showers. There is an excellent restaurant and take-away close by.  

Calpe really is an excellent all-round holiday destination for young and old alike.
